Excalibur — The Sword from the Lake
A young king with a broken sword rides to the edge of a still water at dusk. From beneath it, a white hand rises holding the blade that will name him — and the older promise it carries with it.
Pairs with an Arthurian legend or hero’s journey unit. Show it once, then have students compare the cinematic against the primary sources (Geoffrey of Monmouth, the Vulgate Cycle, Malory) and write about what each version chooses to foreground.
