Accessibility Statement

Accessibility is not a feature I add at the end. It is a discipline that shapes every decision from the first line of markup to the last round of testing. As an accessibility consultant and educator, I hold this site to the same standard I ask of my clients: WCAG 2.2 Level AA conformance, verified through automated tooling, manual keyboard and screen reader testing, and ongoing review.

This commitment applies to every surface of Inclusive AI Strategies, including the marketing site at inclusiveaistrategies.com, the learning area at inclusiveaistrategies.com/learn/, and the blog at news.inclusiveaistrategies.com, regardless of the underlying platform.

Standards and guidelines

This site is designed and tested against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. Where feasible, I also target Level AAA criteria, particularly for text contrast, reading level, and consistent navigation. The site uses semantic HTML landmarks, proper heading hierarchy, visible focus indicators, keyboard-operable navigation, and color contrast verified against WCAG 2.2 AA thresholds.

Measures taken

To maintain accessibility, I take the following measures across all platforms:

• Accessibility is considered from the earliest stages of design and development.
• Pages are tested with automated tools (axe, WAVE) and manual checks (keyboard-only navigation, screen reader spot checks).
• Color contrast is verified programmatically against WCAG 2.2 AA thresholds for normal text (4.5:1), large text (3:1), and UI components (3:1).
• All images include meaningful alternative text or are marked as decorative.
• Forms include visible labels, required-field indicators, and error messages that are announced to screen readers when validation fails.
• The site respects the prefers-reduced-motion media query.
• No content relies solely on color to convey meaning.
• The primary typeface, Atkinson Hyperlegible, was designed by the Braille Institute specifically for readers with low vision.

Known limitations

I work to identify and resolve accessibility barriers as quickly as possible, but no site is perfect. The following are current known limitations:

• Third-party content, including embedded scheduling tools and external links to publisher or retail sites, may not meet the same accessibility standards.
• The learning area uses a learning management system. Similar solutions have been made to reduce limitations on that platform through theme configuration and software customization.

I actively monitor for issues and address them as part of ongoing site maintenance.

Compatibility

This site is designed to be compatible with current versions of major browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge) and common assistive technologies including screen readers (NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver), screen magnification software, and speech recognition tools. The site is built with progressive enhancement. All core content functions without JavaScript enabled. On narrow viewports, the mobile navigation menu requires JavaScript to expand; the footer provides equivalent navigation links for users without JavaScript.

Assessment approach

Accessibility of this site is assessed through a combination of self-evaluation using automated testing tools, manual expert review, and real-device testing with assistive technology. I do not treat a passing automated scan as proof of accessibility. Automated tools catch many barriers, but not all of them. The rest requires human judgment, which is why manual testing is part of every release.
