In the lesson, you explored five epic traditions from around the world and learned about Anglo-Saxon culture. Now it's time to start making connections.

Directions:

Look back at the five epic traditions described in Lesson 1.1 (Gilgamesh, Mahabharata, Sundiata, Popol Vuh, Kalevala). Then consider what you learned about Anglo-Saxon culture.

Choose one of the epic traditions listed (or another founding story you know from any culture, including your own family or community traditions).

In 3-5 sentences, identify one value or theme that your chosen story shares with the Anglo-Saxon values described in Lesson 1.1. Use specific details.

Then respond to at least one classmate's post: What did their comparison help you notice that you hadn't considered?
